In the current counter-terrorism
campaign, the United States Government is expanding the collection
of signature information to aid in the detection and location of potential
terrorist activities. AST provides advanced sensor signal processing
solutions for space-based, airborne, terrestrial, and underwater sensor
technologies. |

We provide advanced digital signal
processing hardware and software to sense and characterize the environment
for sound, light, heat, and complex phenomena. This enables us to identify
potential threats and to increase situational awareness. |

Our capabilities include the use
of sound and electromagnetic energy, such as in sonar or radar, to
detect mines or submarines; detect chemicals that might expose explosive
devices; and detect magnetic materials that might indicate the presence
of buried mines, submerged submarines, or underground weapons facilities.
Our sensor processing equipment provides automatic detection and classification
of threatening objects in both marine and terrestrial environments. |

Creating Actionable Intelligence |
| |
Two recurring themes in the intelligence,
surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) community are the need to digest
an ever-growing quantity of surveillance data and the need to detect
an ever more elusive adversary. In particular, two key challenges are
how to watch for the unpredictable and how to understand what combination
of events drawn from multiple collection assets conveys insight. These
are problems connected to, on a huge scale, automated situational awareness
and constant adaptation to an evolving adversary. AST is actively engaged
in meeting these challenges. |
