Alan, Unix System Administrator

Alan has been with AST since December 1990. Alan has an interesting story of how he came to work here. Alan’s previous employer had been bought out, and a friend who was an employee at AST referred Alan here. Well, as it turned out, Alan also had an offer from NASA for an internship at the same time. It was a tough decision, but Alan ultimately chose AST, and he is glad that he did—and so are we!

Alan lists the sense of stability and the benefit and challenge of working in different areas within his department as the most valuable and beneficial attributes of AST. He really enjoys the Company perks, for example, the company lunches and breakfasts. Alan says, “It’s the small things like these that make the difference.” He feels the benefits are very competitive with other companies, and in many ways, better than most.

Alan also feels fortunate to have been able to take advantage of the various training resources within the company, and believes he has reaped the benefits as this has allowed him to continually enhance his professional skills. Alan stated that AST has become like an extended family to him, and that he really likes AST’s philosophy of taking care of its employees.
