to host a conference call on May 20, 2003
to discuss second quarter operating results

CA, May 8, 2003 Applied Signal Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ-APSG)
announced today that it will host a conference call on Tuesday,
May 20, 2003 at 2:00PM Pacific Time (5:00PM Eastern Time) to discuss
second quarter operating results. Gary L. Yancey, President and
CEO will be hosting the call. The second quarter operating results will be released through the newswire services on Tuesday, May 20,
2003 at 1:00PM Pacific Time (4:00PM Eastern Time). Financial and
statistical information to be discussed in the call will be available
on the company's website immediately prior to commencement of the
call. Investors will have the opportunity to listen to this event two
ways - via teleconference or webcast: Via telephone, the dial-in number is 877-407-8035 for domestic callers,

required. There will be a question/answer session at the end of
