Hosts Successful Thirteenth Annual Spring Technology Symposium
SUNNYVALE, California, May 15, 2009 – Applied Signal Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: APSG) (AST), a full-service intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) provider, recently hosted its Thirteenth Annual Spring Technology Symposium at its Annapolis Junction, Maryland facility and at MITRE headquarters in McLean, Virginia. The three-day event attracted more than 250 participants representing numerous U.S. government agencies and defense industry professionals.
The 2009 Spring Symposium featured a series of technical seminars and product demonstrations that focused on the Company’s latest communication and sensor collection technologies. Focus topics included high-speed converged data processing, wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) survey and processing, software-defined radio (SDR) systems architecture, and cyber security tools. MAGIC, a system that links wireless communications and networks for real-time location of hostile threats, was one of the most talked about demonstrations of the week.
Dr. John Treichler, an expert in digital and adaptive signal processing and Chief Technology Officer of AST, opened the symposium with a presentation on Breaking with Tradition in System Design, which reviewed a number of trends in both signal and operational environments that are forcing traditional system design approaches to be revised. In addition to technical presentations addressing a wide spectrum of ISR topics, the company conducted fifteen live demonstrations of new and emerging technologies.
“The 2009 Spring Symposium was a resounding success with more than 250 government and industry participants in attendance. We received requests for product sales and development orders as a result of the interest generated. We also had the opportunity to present and discuss our latest communication reconnaissance and remote sensing technologies with a few key returning customers,” said William Van Vleet, President and Chief Executive Officer of AST. “This technology symposium once again demonstrated that AST is uniquely positioned to address our customers’ most challenging ISR and national security problems.”
