Dynamics Technology Announces New Vice President to Lead Homeland Defense Business
Dr. Joseph Leonelli Joins Dynamics Technology's Metropolitan Washington DC Office
ARLINGTON, VA , September 1, 2004 – Dynamics Technology, Inc. (DTI), a world-class provider of advanced imaging sonar, non-acoustic ASW, integrated MASINT systems, and automated coastal surveillance situation awareness systems, today announced the appointment of Dr. Joseph Leonelli as Vice President of the company’s Homeland Defense business. Dr. Leonelli brings 21 years of experience in the successful management of complex research, development, test and engineering programs.

Dr. Leonelli joins DTI from General Dynamics, where he was the Business Area Manager of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) programs for the Advanced Information Systems business unit. In this capacity, Dr. Leonelli was responsible for the profit and loss of the CBRN business area, which consisted of twenty-five contracts valued at over $85M and generated $16M in annual revenues.
Prior to General Dynamics’ acquisition of Veridian Corporation in August 2003, Dr. Leonelli served as Vice President of the Applied Sciences Group (ASG) and Deputy Director of the Applied Science and Technology Sector of Veridian Systems Division. In that position, Dr. Leonelli managed ninety scientists and engineers performing research and development services for government and industrial clients in CBRN-related programs. Additionally, he was responsible for the profit and loss of the technical group, which consisting of over forty-eight contracts valued at $110M and generated $20M in annual revenues.
Dr. Leonelli served in a variety of program management positions prior to joining Veridian. From June 2002 to September 2003, Dr. Leonelli was the Director of Special Programs at Oak Ridge National Laboratory UT-Battelle, LLC. In this role, he managed customer relationships of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory with the Intelligence Community. Previously, Dr. Leonelli was the Vice President and General Manager of the Special Programs Sector for the Battelle Memorial Institute.
Dynamics Technology formed the Homeland Defense business in 2002 as a strategic intent to address emerging needs in homeland security and missile defense. The business currently provides integrated sensor and signal processing systems for non-intrusive inspection of commercial containers, biodefense, contagious disease consequence management, and port/harbor surveillance.
