SUNNYVALE, California, August 28, 2009 – Applied Signal Technology, Inc. (AST) (NASDAQ: APSG), a market leader in advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions, today announced the appointment of David A. Baciocco as Corporate Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, effective August 31. Mr. Baciocco will report to President and Chief Executive Officer, William B. Van Vleet, and will be responsible for identifying new opportunities and executing successful business strategies to expand the company’s portfolio in the defense and intelligence sectors.

 

Mr. Baciocco, an accomplished leader in ISR strategy and business development, brings more than 10 years experience in strategic planning, capture management, opportunity identification, and large program pursuits. Most recently, Mr. Baciocco served as Vice President of Business Development for Ericsson Federal Inc. (EFI), a world-class provider of network-centric communication solutions to government agencies, intelligence communities, and military services in the United States and abroad. In this role, he was responsible for business development efforts for U.S. Defense Department and intelligence community programs, a $150 million business area.

 

Prior to EFI, Mr. Baciocco worked for SAIC in business development for military and commercial satellite communications, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems, intelligence systems and networks, and space programs. Mr. Baciocco was also a career Naval Officer, with assignments in the operational and acquisition communities, the offices of the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Space, and the National Reconnaissance Office.

 

William B. Van Vleet, AST’s Chief Executive Officer, commented, “Dave’s experience will be a tremendous asset to our management team as we execute our growth strategy. Mr. Baciocco holds a Master of Science in Information Systems from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University. He is a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) and Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI).
