Raytheon AST has excelled in the development of advanced detection processing for the fluctuating extremely low frequency signatures, a target component that has become increasingly important in the modern littoral undersea warfare environment.
Another area of innovation is in cancellation of platform-generated electromagnetic noise. While traditional techniques were adequate for the classical magnetic anomaly detection signature in the open ocean, the expansion of the signature space and the transition to littoral operating environments has since greatly increased the demands on platform noise cancellation.
Raytheon AST has developed the 3MDS processor, part of the Navy's Multi-Mode Magnetic Detection System. This system incorporates inputs from ancillary motion sensors and models of platform-induced magnetic noise to achieve critical gains for next-generation airborne ASW. |
