KATANA is an advanced, high speed telecommunications processer optimized for deep packet inspection of multiple 40G (4 x 10G) high density links. Its IBM® Blade single-slot form factor is designed for multi-purpose, high-performance processing applications.

 

KATANA's next generation architecture is powered by the latest Tilera® multi-core processors and Xilinx® Virtex-6 FPGAs, providing unprecedented performance for computationally intensive and simultaneous I/O intensive applications. KATANA's high-capacity 10G Ethernet switching fabric delivers the ultimate in flexible connectivity both on the card and between cards within the IBM chassis, allowing efficient scaling to multiple KATANA processing blades.
